Rotary Club of Wickford gives £10,000 to the J

At their weekly club meeting on the 19^th January 2017 the Rotary Club of Wickford presented £10,000.00 to J’s Hospice, which improves the lives of  those aged 16-40 with life limiting and life threatening conditions, along with those of their families from across Essex.

The Club invited Barry Linger representing The J’s Hospice to join them for their meeting, and to present him with a cheque for £10,000 so support their activities. The Rotary Club would like to thank everyone that supported their fund raising activities at the annual Fireworks Display in the Memorial Park and also from the sleigh collections around the streets of Wickford and also at the Tesco stores on the Wick and Mayflower Retail Park, Sainsbury Nevendon store and the Coop store in Wickford. Without your donation, it would not have been possible to support J’s Hospice to enable them to provide thismuch needed support.

Upon receiving the cheque, Barry explained that the J's Hospice charity improves the lives of young adults (aged 16-40) with life limiting and life threatening conditions and their families across Essex. The J’s provides enhanced care, including tailored specialist nursing, respite, advice and emotional care as well as end of life care and bereavement support – in the comfort and security of the young adults’ own homes. This help the young adults to live their lives to the fullest, however short this may be.

The donation from Wickford Rotary, which was made earlier than originally planned, was particularly welcome at this time to help ease cash flow problems prior to the injection of statutory funding in April and May and The J’s are very appreciative of this gesture.
