Raising awareness of Rotary’s aim to eradicate Polio

Normanton Rotarians and the mayor of Featherstone helped school children plant purple crocuses to raise awareness of Rotary's eradicate polio campaign

On Thursday the 5th October Normanton Rotary President President Derek Searby CBE TD, President-Elect Alan Drewitt, the principal organiser of this event, accompanied by a small group of Rotarians, joined forces with the Mayor of Featherstone, Councillor Margaret Isherwood, Town Clerk Vicky Symons, and some pupils and staff of St Thomas’s School in Featherstone to make a start on planting purple crocus corns in a prominent position in the school grounds, to raise awareness of Rotary’s campaign to eradicate Polio throughout the world. It was a pleasant sunny afternoon and the pupils of St Thomas’s were very enthusiastic, appearing to relish the task in hand. We wish to thank Headteacher Mrs. D. Randall for her invaluable help and co-operation.
