Rotary York Ainsty organised a workshop in York Minster in which volunteers made feminine hygiene kits for girls in developing countries .
Due to poverty in many developing countries, many girls don’t have the luxury of feminine hygiene products. This can have a devastating effect on their education, as a lot of girls can’t go to school while they are menstruating. This means that they are missing out on large parts of their education.
Every girl and woman has inherent worth and dignity. Days for Girls celebrates this by providing washable menstrual hygiene solutions, health education, and social enterprises to help them reach the last mile in their own communities. We aim to provide girls with a Days for Girls Kit that keeps her from missing up to three months of school each year. When we mobilize girls and women through health and education opportunities, their communities and our world grow stronger.
