Christmas Day at the Conquest Hospital

Santa and helpers bring happiness to the Conquest children’s wards on Christmas Day.

Members of Bexhill Rotary club and friends went to the Conquest hospital on Christmas Day to deliver toys to sick children and newborn babies. Bexhill Rotary club along with Battle, St Leonards and Hastings Clubs had raised £500 locally to purchase the toys.  Other money came in from friends and someone even as far as Boston in America. Santa with his elf along with a reindeer, snowman and penguin firstly visiting Kipling ward and then on to the special care unit, Frank Shaw Ward and to the maternity suite to greet those born on Christmas day and overnight.  A final visit was then made to the A and E department and the resuscitation unit. The children were delighted to see us as were the dedicated doctors and nurses for whom Santa also had some gifts.

Bexhill President Graham (snowman) Forster said it was lovely to spend time with all those finding themselves in hospital at this time of year and to bring welcome smiles where needed on Christmas Day. Organiser elf Sue Day added ‘Santa was able to leave some additional presents for those children arriving later over the Christmas period too’.
