Caterham Food Bank

New warehouse fit-out supported by the four Rotary clubs in Tandridge

The Caterham Food Bank, part of the Trussell Trust, has recently taken on a new warehouse, where the donated items can be sorted and stored.  Stephen Bidwell, chair of trustees, says "The current pandemic has led to far greater demand for our services, so having more storage space is crucial.  Foodbank distribution will continue to be from the current locations."

The warehouse fit-out has been supported by the four Rotary Clubs in Tandridge (Titsey & District, Oxted and Limpsfield, Caterham and Caterham Harestone).  The clubs both funded and assembled the equipent needed in the new location.

Roger Stent, project leader and member of Titsey Rotary, says "In many areas, Rotary clubs have helped their local foodbanks.  We have been delighted to work together with this vital resource which supports the whole of Tandridge."

Foodbank Warehouse Manager Euan Lee said "We are really grateful to the four Rotary clubs for their financial and material support.  This will enable us to provide an improved service to Tandridge folk during the pandemic and in the future."

There are ongoing plans for this collaboration to assist distribution throughout the area.
