Canterbury Food Bank

Canterbury Food Bank began as a community project developed by a group of local churches in 2011, registering as a charity in August 2013.

Its vision is 'Caring for local people in crisis' and its charitable outcomes are:

The prevention of relief of poverty or financial hardship in the Canterbury City Council district by:

• the provision of emergency food parcels, items, services and facilities to individuals in financial need.
• contributing to and cooperating with charities and other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty within the county of Kent.

Canterbury Food Bank's activities are delivered by a small staff team managing a large group of dedicated volunteers.

While the roots of the charity lie in its Christian beginnings, it now brings together staff and volunteers of all faiths and none to provide a vital service to people.

The charity provides three-day food parcels to individuals and families in short term financial crisis across Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay and surrounding villages.
