Rotary Foundation Showcase - Rotary Peace Fellows

Thu, Feb 25th 2021 at 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Continuing our series of Foundation showcases, for Rotarians in our district, Rotarians beyond our district and anyone interested in learning about our activities

Each year, Rotary awards up to 130 fully funded fellowships for dedicated leaders from around the world to study at one of our peace centres. Since the programme began in 2002, the Rotary Peace Centres have trained more than 1,400 fellows who now work in more than 115 countries. Many serve as leaders in governments, NGOs, the military, education, law enforcement, and international organizations like the United Nations and the World Bank.

We will hear from three Rotary Peace Fellows, from Brazil, England and Afghanistan, on how they applied for the fellowship and how their careers and studies fit with our Peace and Conflict Resolution Area of Focus.

Our presenters come from careers in the United Nations, with the British Embassy, and at the BBC and have studied at two of Rotary’s seven peace centres.

We will also explain how Rotary clubs can support applications to the fellowship programme. Peace Fellowships and Peace Centres are funded by the Rotary Foundation head office. Clubs and districts can support applications but do not have to contribute directly to the cost of the fellowships.
