Literacy Box

Every year, in advance of the round of District Assemblies in April / May, we send out through RIBI to the District Chairs of International Service, a ‘Spring Update’ in PDF format. It  contains information, contact details  and links to useful resources for Rotary Clubs, schools etc.  I attach this Spring update 2021 pdf , as all we would wish to have forwarded is in that document. I do hope this is acceptable to you.

Thank you again for the invitation. Much appreciated.

Wheelchair Foundation

We are a Rotary based charity in the UK and work with our fellow Rotarians in the countries receiving this much needed aid.

We thank Rotarians in D1285 for your support of our work over the past 18 years which has seen you supply 2448 brand new wheelchairs to those in need. Some clubs have sponsored a whole container loads and individual members have visited the countries benefitting from this aid and continue to give sterling support.

Funds are currently held in the name of the district for a container that is being funded for a delivery of a minimum 110 wheelchairs to Namibia with 44 wheelchairs already being paid for.

Our additional work involves the collection of second-hand disability and ensuring this is in good order and then shipping to a country in need along with the assistance in setting up work shops for repairs and the training of individuals by experienced Physio and Occupational therapists. Plus we assist other Rotary work and have supplied children’s books for the deprived schools and our volunteers have set up separate projects such as water wells. For more information on these aspects please contact Rtn. Milton Frary
