Duck Race a Quacking Success

2nd Annual virtual Duck Race 2021 report & winners

Daffy Duck & Friends in Virtual Splash

Narberth and Whitland Rotary for the second year running have been forced into an online Virtual Duck Race because of the pandemic.
The final total of 800 ducks was boosted by 265 of Narberth School children bringing a teddy to school to celebrate raising money for the Sandy Bear Children’s bereavement Charity who are one of the beneficiaries.
The children had a teddy bears picnic at school with afternoon snacks  and it was a real celebration as this one the first time the entire school had been together on the playground together. All classes were in class bubbles and Head teacher Mrs Nia Ward said it was wonderful to have the children together again after so many months of being apart. She said they were keen to support the Sandy Bear Charity which do so much great work helping with children who have suffered loss in some way to recover and get back to normal. "There are many types of loss from parents and Grandparents to pets and even parents break ups and we are keen to support the children through this process in any way we can”.
Rotary President Chris Williams wished to thank Andrew Rees and his family for sponsoring this event during a difficult time for their family.
The proceeds of the event will be distributed to Sandy Bear and Rotary local Charities in Narberth and Whitland.
Rotary Fundraising Chair John Hughes stated that it has been a difficult year for fundraising and we are grateful to everyone who purchased ducks to make a real difference in our Communities.
Rotary within Narberth and Whitland are always looking for ideas of raising money for community projects and the Narberth and Whitland Charity Calendars will be on sale in shops both towns soon.
Also we are delighted to be working Collaboratively with Narberth Rugby Club for an outdoor concert called Sunday Night Fever with a Bee Gees Experience Tribute Band to raise money for Cancer Research Wales. We are thrilled to have the go ahead to proceed with this exciting evening of music and entertainment said John.  Visit out website www.nwrotary.co.uk to buy tickets.
