END WORLD POLIO STAND AT THE MARKETPLACE - Saturday 22nd October 2022

If in Epsom over the weekend you may have noticed the Epsom Clock Tower lit up with purple lights. This of course was organised by Ronnie in support of the End Polio Now Campaign held through Rotary worldwide and supported by Bill Gates and we held at stall at the marketplace Epsom selling purple crocus bulbs - the purple being the colour of the purple dot placed on children's foreheads once they had received the vaccination.  We were able to meet and enlighten people about this very worthwhile cause an sell the nicely bagged crocus bulbs, raising funds for the cause.  Clive and Anne put together a brilliant information board together highlighting the need to continue the campaign and to continue to eradicate polio only as a result of vaccinations being available to all across the world.  At the moment there are still cases of polio in Pakistan and Afghanistan but traces of the polio virus were also recently found in the UK  Epsom Rotary have been involved in this campaign for quite a number of years and will no doubt continue for many yeas to come.     

There are still some crocus bulbs for sale - and these can be bought by contacting Epsom Rotary and charged at £5 for 40 purple crocus bulbs. Bulk purchase enquiries welcomed.
