What a Satellite Group does

Satellite groups provide a possible option for creating new Rotary clubs with a satellite group functioning as a short-term, transitional step on the way to becoming a full, independent Rotary club. However, satellite groups may choose to continue as a satellite group and remain linked to a host Rotary club.

Satellite groups give community members and Rotarians the chance to make a positive difference in an environment that often differs from their local Rotary club. Like all Rotary clubs, satellite groups hold regular meetings, have bylaws and a board, and get involved in community service projects.

Satellite groups can also have e-members to ensure the greatest flexibility possible, but all members help to develop, deliver and evaluate projects as fits with their interests and lifestyles.

What an Impact Group does

An Impact Group consists of like-minded, lively individuals, professionals, and students who wish to network while being of service to the local and international community through various volunteer projects and events.

Members of an Impact Group become full members of the host Rotary Club with all the benefits of local, national and international fellowship. They are eligible to attend conferences and visit other clubs and are not required to attend the host Rotary Club meetings but would always be welcomed. The Host Club and the Impact Group are run differently but have common goals and encourage opportunities to work together.

An Impact Grouip has it's own management which conforms with a traditional Rotary council where members may elect to take responsibility for certain aspects of the running of the group. The Chairman of the Impact Group also sits on the Council of the Host Club to ensure communications are strong between the two groups.
