Picnic In The Park - Bradgate Park

Sun, May 19th 2024 at 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

What a wonderful day! People got to see the great work of Rotary In The East Midlands & have Fun!

What a wonderful day! With the Brass band playing and Ranger Rita’s wildlife antics entertaining the children, the sun shining and burgers on the BBQ, what was not to love about the day.

Our District 1070 members, friends and families came together to promote their Rotary projects and share some time together.

Leicester Rotary brought along their Portuguese visitors for the picnic and declared that it was warmer than at home!

There were ducks and flamingos, herons and spiders to amuse us all. And most of all there was Rotary friendship and fun.

Members of the Rotary Clubs of Leicester De Montfort and Leicester Novus manned a stall selling tickets for their duck race to be held on Sunday, September 1 in Knighton Park, Leicester, alongside the Friends of Knighton Park's annual open day.

Several other stalls at Bradgate Park also raised funds for Rotary's own charity, The Rotary Foundation, using hook a duck and hook a flamingo games.

At one stall, volunteers from the charity Heartwize demonstrated how to use defibrillators in the case of someone having a heart attack.

The D1070 E-Club and their Coats4Kids stall was also very busy, explaining how they help children in poverty keep warm with a brand-new winter coat.

This is the second year that Rotary has been welcomed there by the Bradgate Park Trust and its rangers who made everyone feel so welcome.
