Mini Friendship Exchange with Sweden 2024

Our district is delighted to announce the finalized plans for a mini Friendship Exchange with District 2400 in southwest Sweden. This carefully organized exchange is structured to span five days in Sweden, followed by an additional five days in our district at a later date.

The decision to opt for a "mini" Friendship Exchange was made in recognition of the challenges posed by the traditional two-week exchanges, which require a significant four-week commitment from Rotary members annually. By offering a shorter, five-day exchange within Europe, we aim to make participation more feasible for a broader range of members.

The scheduled visit to Sweden (District 2400) is planned for June 13th - 17th, with our district reciprocating by hosting Swedish Rotarians from September 13th - 17th. This exchange presents an excellent opportunity for both districts to acquaint themselves with each other's Rotary projects, culture, and country.

District 2400 in southwest Sweden is conveniently accessible through a direct flight from the UK to Copenhagen in Denmark, which is closer than Stockholm. Subsequently, a rail trip via the Oresund Bridge and tunnel connects Denmark, Malmo, and District 2400. Notably, the Oresund Bridge features a section spanning both above and below the sea, adding to its unique characteristics. For those considering an additional private trip to Stockholm before or after the exchange, Stockholm may be the preferred airport of entry.

District 2400 encompasses a diverse region, boasting two coastlines, archipelagos, beaches, and wetlands. The city of Karlskrona in Blekinge holds UNESCO World Heritage status due to its meticulously preserved 17th-century Navy Base, making it a truly exceptional destination.
