Santa's Sleigh donations go to Spotlight Appeal

When you were donating to the Santa's Sleigh appeal at Christmas the donations you made were destined for the Spotlight Appeal at Southend Hospital

As you know, Santa came to Wickford again last year and brought lots of fun and joy to the people of the town, but that's not all he did!

The charity we supported this year is the Spotlight Radiotherapy appeal at Southend Hospital.

As you know, Southend is the major cancer centre for South and Mid Essex and they are continuing to improve the service they provide to the people of the County.

The Spotlight Radiotherapy Appeal aims to raise £600,000 to fund ultra-precise, state-of-theart radiotherapy positioning devices which provide set-up and motion management during radiotherapy.

The Surface Guided Radiation Therapy (SGRT) equipment will be available to patients at the Mid and South Essex Cancer centre at Southend Hospital.

It is hoped that by 2025, all patients receiving radiotherapy across mid and south Essex will have access to safer, less invasive, and more precise treatment.

Wickford Rotary's aim was to try to raise 1% of the total needed to provide this life changing therapy. We're pleased to say that with your help we raised £7070 towards this venture, so thank you, thank you, thank you for your help in raising this fantastic sum!

Kayley Donovan from the Spotlight Appeal came to visit the Club recently to tell us more about the venture, and to receive a cheque, and was blown away by your generosity.

It's hoped that the equipment will be installed in the latter part of 2024 or early 2025, aiming to change the lifes of the people of Essex.
