Thursday's meeting was a Face to Face by new member, Claire Reid. Introduced by Peter Farr, Claire told of her early career in Personnel Management (before the advent of Human Resources), in a retail environment. She was 'in at the deep end' with responsibility for 23 stores but there was an upside in that it was here that she met her husband-to-be, Stan. They were keen to move to and this was made possible in the mid 80's when Stan took a post with Jenners in . Claire joined Bartholemews then was appointed Head of Personnel for the Scottish Legal Aid Board where she spent 11 years. A brief spell with in Human Resources, led to a career changing decision to go the self employed route as a management consultant. Claire had made many contacts during her career in organisations like the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the based Wood Group and soon built up a portfolio of clients and she now runs her business from the family home in Deanston. In her spare time, Claire enjoys gardening, cooking and travel.
Not able to resist a captive audience, Claire finished by setting a task for the members to draw a pig on a sheet of paper, then, depending on the way the pig was drawn, she was able to assess different personality and management styles.
