19 July 2012 Business Meeting

Thu, Jul 19th 2012 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Monthly Business Meeting

Last Thursday was new President Iain Smith's first business meeting. 35 members enjoyed an excellent barbecue laid on by Westlands Hotel.  The meeting was enlivened by the presence of one Ludvig van Beethoven aka Alan Lee, who was being 'inducted' into honorary membership. This was done in appreciation of his support for the forthcoming 'Beat Beethoven Challenge' which takes place in the grounds of Stirling University in October. Ludvig and his 'minder' Paddy Holmes informed the membership that the Beat Beethoven site on Facebook was now fully operational, and that full details of the event and up to date information was available on it:

In other news, arrangements are progressing for the rescheduled Am-Am Golf Competition at Dunblane New Golf Club on 2 August in aid of Strathcarron Hospice. All but four of the original teams have been able to participate and one new team has come forward.

The crepe makers are gearing up for the Bridge of Allan Highland Games on Sunday 5 August and a few of the more (fool)hardy members are preparing to take part in the 'Pedal for Parkinson's' cycle ride starting at King's Park also on 5 August.

The following Sunday, 12 August, sees the new and improved Judy Murray Junior Mini Tennis Cups event at Dunblane Sports Club. Details on how to register are on their website: www.dunblanesportsclub.co.uk
