President Iain Smith welcomed 2 visitors to last week's meeting where the speaker was member Paddy Holmes, giving her Face to Face talk. Last week, we heard from Paddy's husband, Peter; both had joined the club in 2011 so this was part 2 of the Holmes' team presentation.
Paddy reminisced on her happy childhood days where she spent much of her time in Cave Hill, a country park on the outskirts of Belfast. After school, she went to Trinity College, Dublin. She met Peter, they got married and 2 sons were born. She became involved in the Scouting movement and in 1982 got the Chief Scout Personal Award for her PR work - the first woman to receive this award. Following a spell working for the Ulster Wildlife Trust, Paddy decided to set up her own Events Management company where she had some major blue chip clients such as Du Pont, McDonnel Douglas and Unilever.
Following her retirement, she took up horse riding and did voluntary work for the charity Riding for the Disabled. She and Peter moved to Dunblane in 2010 and her marketing skills were very much in evidence when she organised the much acclaimed Beat Beethoven event for the Rotary Club last year.
David Mackie gave the vote of thanks.
