At last Thursday's meeting, Peter Farr welcomed 2 visitors; our speaker for the evening was Nickola Paul and we also welcomed Alanna Macfarlane from as guest of Jill Adams. Alanna has just been elected secretary of the newly formed Interact Club at the school.
Before the main speaker, John Kilby reminded members of the Winter Concert being held on Wednesday 14th at at to which all senior citizens in the area are welcome. Skelpit Lug and the pupils at the school will be providing the entertainment.
Lawrie Orr asked that members try to sell their ticket allocation for the Christmas Concert on 8 December at Dunblane Cathedral with all profits going to Strathcarron Hospice.
Stuart Brown asked that filled Shoeboxes are returned by next Thursday latest so they can be despatched to in time for Christmas.
Finally, there was a very brief report on two recent sporting events, a curling match against Perth Rotary and a Gavel competition against Alloa, both of which were lost.
Our speaker, Nickola Paul, gave an illustrated presentation on her recent trip to as one of a team of 4 from Strathclyde International Development.
The team spent 9 weeks in a small village in north helping the people to develop and improve their standard of living, mainly through agriculture.
The team spent time working in the fields, taking classes in the local primary school and teaching about health and nutrition.
It was a very successful venture and Nickola thanked the club for their financial contribution. Les Ferguson gave a well supported vote of thanks.
