Rotary visit to Rachel House, Kinross
Last week, President Iain Smith accompanied by Graham Russell, Stuart Brown and John Kilby, paid a visit to Rachel House in Kinross to present a cheque for £4250 from money raised at the Club's Duck Race in May and the Judy Murray Tennis Cup in August.
CHAS Regional Fundraising Manager Sarah Secombes said: "We're thrilled to have the continued support of the Rotary Club of Bridge of Allan and Dunblane who have been fundraising for CHAS now for over 18 years.
It was a pleasure to show Iain, Graham, Stuart and John round Rachel House recently to see first-hand how their fundraising makes a difference to children with life-shortening conditions and their families.
The tour included an update on developments we've had across CHAS within the last year such as the opening of the new young adult space at Rachel House. Designed specifically for the teenagers and young adults we support, this area has been well used throughout the summer with teenage breaks including a T in the Park weekend, scout camp break and recently, a themed weekend based on BBC 2's Dragon's Den.
The CHAS at Home team also expanded in November 2011 to include a support worker and two part-time nurses in Aberdeen . This team supported 11 families at the time of the launch, but have increased rapidly and are currently supporting 23 families in the North East of Scotland. Many of these families are now also visiting Rachel House.
Next year CHAS will be 21 years old so there are lots of plans for families to help us mark this milestone, as well as supporters like the Rotary Club of Bridge of Allan and Dunblane.
A huge thank you to everyone at the Rotary Club for their on-going commitment to supporting CHAS.
