Last Thursday’s meeting of the Rotary Club of Bridge of Allan and Dunblane heard from Chrissy Pollock, an Energy Advisor at the Fintry Development Trust (FDT).
Chrissy has worked for the Trust since she graduated from Stirling University in 2011 with a degree in Ecology.
Chrissy explained that the Trust, which has charitable status, was established in 2007 and has a board of 8 directors and 4 full time staff. It was set up following interest by 4 local residents in community renewable possibilities in the area some 9 years ago. This resulted in a joint venture agreement with a wind farm developer which is now contributing substantial sums annually and has paid for significant improvements to the energy efficiency of homes in the area as well as other developments.
Chrissy is involved in a wide range of projects, including energy advice; she is the main contact for the community car club which now also includes an Electric Car, and for the Cycle Fintry project; she led the installation of a new community garden in addition to organising and coordinating many events that take place in the village. Chrissy is also a member of the steering committee for Grow Forth, a group which aims to encourage the production and consumption of local produce. Details can be found on the FDT website: http://www.fintrydt.org.uk
Peter Farr thanked Chrissy for a very well presented and interesting talk.
