Thu, Jun 5th 2014 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

Joyce Watson talked to the club about her passion for creative textiles.

Members and partners reviewing the textiles with President Elect Mary Fraser, Joyce and Bob Watson.

President Colin welcomed a full house of Members and Partners to Thursday's meeting and all enjoyed a fine three course meal with tablet and coffee.  After the meal, Colin introduced Joyce Watson, wife of long serving member Bob, who was to be the speaker for the evening with a talk entitled 'Tarting up Textiles' which probably had all the audience wondering what would be presented.

Well a treat was in store, Joyce, an artist and retired textile creation teacher, had brought several dozen works and with the assistance of, and occasional interjection by, Bob, she described the inspiration for and the techniques used in their creation.

Joyce explained her choice of materials which varied from fine hand dyed silks to 'sweetie papers' and medical supplies.

Joyce fielded a host of questions from the floor and then invited all present up to view the works at close quarters and to feel the textures.

John Kilby offered a vote of thanks which was heartily supported from the floor.
