Several of the lucky winners from the Rotary Duck Race came along to the Westlands Hotel last Thursday to collect their prizes. Over £5,000 was raised from the Duck Race, Crepe Stall and Bouncy Castle at the Fling by the River. The money will go to Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS), ChildLine and other Rotary good causes. This was a tremendous effort by all involved and recorded the highest total of ducks sold (4,650) in the event's 17 year history.

Following the presentation, the meeting welcomed 3 visitors, Ann Mitchell representing Assistant Governor John Anderson, her husband Harry and Gail Edwards from Queen Victoria School.
Before the main business of the evening, President Colin Strachan asked Iain Smith to introduce and propose Iain Galloway for membership of the club. Iain is a retired solicitor and was duly inducted into membership and welcomed to the club.
The meeting then proceeded to Club Assembly where incoming President Peter Farr set out his plans and aspirations for the next Rotary year which starts on 1 July. Peter then introduced the new team who laid out their proposals for members' approval. Community Service was presented by George Morrison in John Kilby's absence, Lawrie Orr set out Vocational Service proposals, Andrew Hilley for Foundation and International, Colin Strachan for Membership, Jill Adams for New Generations, Russell Clarke for Hospice Support, Rod Jones for Club Service and Nick Rawlings for Programme.
Ann Mitchell summed up the evening by commending the club for their very comprehensive proposals and was delighted to report the efforts over the current year had resulted in the club being awarded a prestigious Citation from the President of Rotary International.
