The annual Am-Am Golf Competition in aid of Strathcarron Hospice was held last Thursday at Dunblane New Golf Club. This year is the 30th time the event has been held since its inception in 1985, having been rained off only once in 2012. It was the brainchild of Rotarian Roy Erskine, Andy and Jamie Murray’s grandad, who organised the event for many years.
Some of the teams currently playing have supported the competition since inception.
Farmfoods were the main sponsor, for the 16th year and Dunblane New Golf Club provide the course and facilities free of charge.
This year there were 50 teams of four players who faced reasonably challenging conditions with some rain during the day. However all were able to enjoy a splendid meal provided by the Golf Club and teas, coffee and home baking by the Club ladies and Rotary partners.
Over the years, the event has raised in excess of £320,000 for the Hospice and the generosity of all sponsors, the participation of the teams and the work of the Golf Club staff and Rotary members and partners is gratefully acknowledged.
