Shoe Box Appeal

The gift of a shoebox that contains toys, toiletries, educational items or household goods is a drop of happiness to the people of Eastern Europe who live in a world of poverty. For many, it will be the first present that they have ever received and it lets them know that somebody, somewhere cares.”

In addition to collecting and checking hundreds of boxes generously donated by Andover School Children and other groups our club is again, this year, co-ordinating the distribution of Shoeboxes collected by 56 participating Rotary Clubs in the Wessex area.  It’s a huge operation requiring about 5000sq ft. of warehouse floor space to accommodate over 27,000 boxes and the assistance of a forklift truck ( kindly made available last year by Andover Forktruck Services Ltd.)   By late November lorries will have been loaded and be en route to Albania, Moldova, Montenegro and Romania.
