Club Walk

Sun, May 24th 2015 at 10:30 am - 3:00 pm

The first Rotary warm up walk, partly for Nepal, but mostly as a club social event, was a great success.

Portland, Casterbridge, Poundbury and Melcombe Regis were all represented along with the Okhle Village Trust.

From Portland we had Bruce, Carolyn, Rosemary and Peter, Ruth and Clive, Judith and Mark and our long standing friend Celia. Richard Brind from Casterbridge, Jane from Poundbury and Laurance bowden who used to be a member of Melcombe. Then Judy and Richard from OVT

On a rather grey day with rain promised, (though luckily it didnt happen) we walked from Abbotsbury up the steep hill to the inland coast path to the ridge and along to Abbotsbury Castle for coffee and cake stop. We then continued along the ridge and down to West Bexington via the old lime kiln for a picnic on Chesil Beach. Though still rather dull the wind had eased and it had warmed up. We then returned along the shingle path to the cars via St Catherine's Chapel

We walked 7.9 miles and climbed 269 metres. Well done to everybody!

Our next walk will be on 28th June and of course is open to all members. Please do come and have an enjoyable day out with us.
