Ed Anderson is an economics graduate and a qualified accountant. He has lived in West Yorkshire for 47 years.
His executive career was split between local government and airports. His first job in local government was with Bradford Council in the early 1970s and his last one was as an executive director on the management team at Leeds City Council for seven years in the 1990s. From 1997 to 2007 he was CEO of Leeds Bradford Airport (and he had previously been Finance Director of East Midlands Airport).
He has held many non executive roles including serving on the board of Kelda Group plc (Yorkshire Water) and chairing the board of Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. He was on the board of the Yorkshire Building Society for 12 years including being Chairman for 8 years until 2015. He is a former President of Leeds Chamber of Commerce.
He currently serves on a number of boards including National Savings & Investments, Opera North and the Leeds International Piano Competition. He is a member of the Council of the University of Leeds and is non executive Chairman of the Airport Operators Association.
In 2015/16 Ed was High Sheriff of West Yorkshire and this year he has become a Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire. Outside of work, Ed's interests include music and cricket.
