Thames Valley District Interact Day

Larkmead School, Faringdon Road, Abingdon OX14 1RF

Our first two District Interact Days were shining examples of why Interact is one of Rotary's fastest growing phenomena. They were a great opportunity for all our wonderful young Interactors throughout the District to meet up with each other, exchange ideas, have fun and hear about projects like Alan's Africa, how Princes Risborough Interactors care in their community, how we are within the final inch of ending polio, discovering ShelterBox and planning some projects of their own. They were also where Rotarians, thinking about starting an Interact Club in their area, discovered why Interact is such a lively and engaging way of working with young people.

At the start of our inaugural Interact Day in November 2014, Paralympian rowing gold medalist, Naomi Riches MBE, the keynote speaker (and ace server of pizzas at lunch time!) tweeted to her followers "Today is all about the young people from the   Clubs...a chance to mingle & meet other Interactors.

Take a look too at the video of the Second Thames Valley Interact Day to see how full of energy and enthusiasm these wonderful young people are, with great ideas for making the world a better place.

Come and join them this year!

Programme Outline for 2018:

  • All Interact Clubs present their own projects and fundraising or service activities, with Q&A
  • A presentation on international water projects and how an Aquabox is used to support families in disaster areas around the globe
  • Defibrillators: how to use them and why they are found in public spaces all over the UK
  • Life after Interact – opportunities that Rotary offers young people
  • How to gain a nationally recognised leadership qualification by running an Interact project
  • Discussion and debate around the development of government policies – Interactors learning to do it for themselves
  • Plus games, activities and lunch

Please download the attached Registration Form and complete participants' details and the name of the accompanying driver(s).  It is very important we receive each participant's consent to be photographed on the day. We would like to suggest that the sponsoring Rotary clubs pick up the £5pp participation charge.

Send your completed form to Astrid Nielsen-Schuurmans of Abingdon Vesper

Thames Valley District has the most Interact clubs in Rotary in Britain and Ireland (Rotary GB&I) and last year we again won the Vernon Schwarz Interact Development Trophy - awarded to the district chartering the most new Interact clubs in a calendar year. Lets make it a third win with even more clubs!

Please share this with everyone you know who is interested in starting one of these amazing clubs.
