Following a visit to a migrant camp in France Justin returned to England and was struck by the number of homeless people on our streets. He knew that in the last difficult winter this had led to many deaths from hypothermia. He devised the easily portable Sleep Pod as an easy to to make way of ensuring people could sleep safe, dry and warm on english streets. Materials can be bought from DIY stores and a video on YouTube shows how a Sleep Pod can be made. £30 + VAT would cover the cost of a Sleep Pod. Centres have been established in Birmingham, Bristol and Kent with volunteers making Pods.
How can we help? Fundraising is one option but Sleep Pod making days are an opportunity to really get involved and they have been taken up by companies as team building exercises. Is this an option for us because of our connection with Hidden Homeless?
'With an investment in time and money it has been shown that so much can be achieved with so little'
Barrie Oldam gave the vote of thanks confirming that there would certainly be a response from Aireborough Rotary with consideration given to how best to do the most good.
