Club Charter Night Dinner for Charity

Wed, Oct 28th 2009 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

The club celebrated its 41st birthday in style and raised money for ShelterBox.

The event raised funds toward ShelterBox, one of the club's preferred charities in 2009/2010.

The 41st Rotary Club of Thame's birthday celebration offered the occasion to honour one of the club's long standing members, Des Wright. Des received a Paul Harris award for his outstanding activity as Youth Opportunity Officer for many years. One of Des major projects were the Life Education Centres with their mobile classrooms with the aim to increase awareness among young children about the dangers of consumption of alcohol, drugs and tobacco. The Life Education Centres are now run with all primary schools in Thame and the majority of the neighbouring villages.

After dinner, Kate Bradford gave a fascinating talk about the "Faboulous 40s to Swing 60s".
