Making a Real Difference: A recipient of the prestigious Rotary Service Above Self Award, Alan first went on a Rotary Mission Challenge Team to Sierra Leone for a "one off" life experience. He has now visited 9 times as a Rotary volunteer. His talk covers his 11 year journey, undertaking many "hands on" building projects, changing lives by developing 4 school communities in Freetown. With the support of Banbury Rotary Club, several Clubs and many Rotarians in 1090, Alan has raised over £180,000 for Sierra Leone projects.

 Rotary Club of Pangbourne
 Prostate Cancer UK – Dr Allen has been treated for prostate cancer himself. He is now retired but was a Consultant Anaesthetist and Pain Consultant at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. He gives an excellent, interesting and informative presentation on prostate cancer which would be of equal interest to the men and ladies in the club.
