Rotary and Shoeboxes

For more than ten years the Rotary Club of Normanton has launched an appeal for the collection of decorated shoeboxes containing gifts for children of all ages, in the period just before Christmas.

These shoeboxes are then distributed to under privileged children throughout the world.

The “Rotary Shoebox Appeal” and “Operation Christmas Child” run by Samaritan’s Purse accept donated new products which are carefully selected for children of  specific ages, who would otherwise receive nothing at Christmas.

Rotarian Robert Burgess has confirmed that one hundred and twenty shoeboxes were collected from his premises on Wednesday 25th November by Rotarian volunteers and that he has also received the sum of£460 in total, made up of donations from individual Rotarians as well as a donation from our own club’scharitable trust, to be used to cover the transportation costs of the shoeboxes.

Robert praised the people of Normanton for their generosity and the efforts made particularly by long standing partner, SEW Eurodrive Ltd and another local company, IPL Ltd, everyone having contributed to the very successful outcome, once again.
