However, decide we did, and Heather Gubby, nominated by 1st Methil Guides is an outstanding recipient for our Young Citizen of the Year and have demonstrated a true sense of community and citizenship.
Heather is a Young Leader at 1st Methil Guides, she is respected role model for the younger girls, approachable and calm in all situations.
Heather’s commitment, enthusiasm, flexibility, independence, team work and problem solving skills were rewarded by being selected to attend an international jamboree in Denmark.
Heather is also a committed and enthusiastic team member in a variety of sports teams through school and in her own time and has competed in Karate, Gymnastics and netball competitions to name a few. She has volunteers at Levenmouth Academy Community Use and Active Schools running Pre - school and primary aged sports camp during her school holidays.
She helps look after a family member with MS at home and at the Homelands Trust in Lundin Links, offering her full time carer support and lending a hand with any tasks needing to be done. Heather really enjoys this and it is a real reflection of her personality and caring nature.
Heather is an inspiration to all who know her.
Last year’s winner, Mhairi Johnston, presented Heather with the Stuart Citizenship Shield and our guest speaker, Ronnie Ross HT Levenmouth Academy presented Heather with her certificate and award cheque.
Congratulations Heather, and commiserations to the other nominees, it was a difficult decision for the judges and we wish you well in your future development and careers.
