About us

Welcome to the Rotary Club of Farnham

.We are club no. 166 chartered in 1924. We have 34 members (plus 6 honorary members) who live in the Farnham area.  We  meet each Thursday at lunchtime in The Bush Hotel, Farnham and we usually have a speaker at three of our meetings every month. The club is part of Rotary International and its main activity is to serve the community by running local events, supporting other organisations and raising funds for local charities and specific international projects or situations. We operate our own charity, the Rotary Club of Farnham Benevolent Fund (Reg no. 200435), which we use as the means of channelling our funds to the other charities and good causes we identify.
If you are a Rotarian visiting the area you will be made welcome at one of our meetings. If you are interested in joining Rotary, please contact our President for further information (president@rotaryfarnham.co.uk).

Club Meetings

Following the loosening of Covid restrictions, lunches resumed at the Bush Hotel from 12 August 2021.
The hotel requires early booking of all places and menu choices for our weekly lunches and the deadline for bookings is 9am on Mondays. Visitors are welcome -- please contact secretary@rotaryfarnham.co.uk or our lunch secretary at lunches@rotaryfarnham.co.uk in good time to reserve your meal.

Local Charities

From fundraising around Christmas 2020, our club sent £500 to Woodlarks Centre and £500 to Bells Piece plus £200 to the Hygiene Bank to suport their activities in the Farnham area. In total we donated over £7,000 to local and international charitable causes during the year to June 2021. These funds were raised through members' voluntary donations and the limited fundraising activities possible during Covid restrictions, including quizzes and raffles.

Tom Ayres MBE

We are sad to announce that our much-loved member Tom Ayres died peacefully in the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice at 5am on 25 October 2021, aged 89.  We send our love and sympathy to Christine and Tom's family.  There will be no public funeral, just a private cremation.

Single Use Plastics

Our club is hoping to reduce single use plastics -- read the article displayed by clicking What we do above.
