Jonathan Roberts spoke to the Rotary Club of Dunmow about the work of the Smile Train charity on 17/4/25.

Smile Train

At a recent Rotary Club of Dunmow weekly meeting members were joined by Jonathan Roberts from Smile Train UK, who spoke about the work of the charity.

The Smile Train charity is dedicated to the treatment of children born with a cleft palate and or lip by empowering local medical staff in over 75 countries to perform the life changing operation to repair issue. The charity has facilitated operations for over 2 million children since being founded in 1999.

A child born with a cleft struggles to breath, eat and speak and if not repaired can also lead to a life of isolation. The image shows the dramatic difference between before and after a corrective operation.

More details on the work of the charity can be found on their website, link below, and how to donate, as the Rotary Club of Dunmow did, along with individual members who support the charity.  https://www.smiletrain.org.uk/
