Annual Dunmow Rotary Sports Personality Dinner
This year’s guest speaker was Simon Milton, a former Ipswich Town midfielder. He shared a fascinating insight into his career, from his time at Ipswich Town Football Club as a player to his role as an club ambassador. Simon explained how his football career had shaped his life and given him a privileged position to help others.
In addition to his football career, Simon has also established and runs a ‘FutureStars’ charity in Ghana. This charity provides education to some of the poorest children in the Accra area.
The talk was very much appreciated by the audience of over 80 attendees.
The evening included a four-course dinner and a raffle, with the proceeds going to SportsAid UK and Dunmow Rotary charities. This event has supported SportsAid for many years, helping them to support many athletes, including local athletes Beth Shriever, the Olympic Gold Medalist in the Tokyo BMX event, and William Gilbank, an up-and-coming Track & Road cyclist.
