Tom tells us about his life as a crew member on Halifax bomber aircraft during WWII

We were honoured to have Tom Davidson as our guest speaker this evening. A resident of Washington, Tom, 93 years, recalled some of his many experiences as a Warrant Officer Flight Engineer in 466 Squadron during WWII. As a crew member on Halifax bomber aircraft operating out of RAF Driffield by the Royal Australian Air Force,

Tom's stories reflected the fear, horrors and tragedies of those times. A close and strong relationship with his fellow crew members developed during his 36 sorties, and dependence and trust in each other allowed them to work and survive together as a team. Tom recently was awarded the 'Legion d'honneur' for his part in the liberation of France.

His life and actions certainly met his Squadron motto of 'Brave and True'. Tom is pictured with his hosts, Rtn Laurence Hucknall and Barbara Hope.
