David's new book, 'Home Front Wickham', is a wonderfully evocative memoir of a small boy growing up in a Hampshire village in the 1930s and 1940s .
The story is told through personal memories with extracts from his mother's extensive diaries. It is an extraordinary story of how a peaceful existence went to one on the Home Front with their home being turned into a shelter for evacuees from The Blitz.
