With the end of the Rotary fast approaching a Club BBQ was organised to acknowledge this.
The venue for this momentous occasion was the Garden at Cloisters Cafe at the Cathderal in Chichester. A tremendous location with the Cathderal spire as a back drop with resident Peregrines looking down on our meaty treats.
The 60 plus people attending including guests from the other Chichester Clubs were blessed with beautiful weather.
The evening also saw the culmination of the Clubs first ever potato growing competition. This proved to be a very eagerly contested event with numerous members taking part.
In a nut shell members had to buy a seedling potato from organiser Jeremy and the overal winner was the person who produced the biggest crop !
Bragging rights go to long standing member David Hilditch. Other awards went to those who produced the smallest crop, the smallest potato ( numerous) and the most unusually shaped spud.
The funds raised will go towards the work undertaken by the Clubs Youth committee.
What will we be growing next year ???
The evening also saw our President Barbara praising the work of some of the Clubs unsung heroes. The efforts of Elaine Hind, Malcolm Danks , Marian Scott, Mary Turner, Linda Smith and Lucy Hopkins were acknowledged by way of a certificate.
The overall winner award for 2025 went to Mary Turner for all the fund raising work she undertakes in selling donated items on EBay. This has become a very useful income stream for our local community work.
