Thursday 23 January 2025 Breakfast meeting Present • Sue, Maggie, Pat, David M, Andrew B, Robert, Kathy, Lesley, Fiona, Andrew M, Godfrey, Nick, Pete. Guest • Anne, Sue and Denice from Whitstable Yarn Bombers. Apologies • David K, Gerry, Elaine, Hilary, Ian, Jean, Maureen, Marian, Nick, Paul, Pippa, Reggie, Spyros, Trevor. No birthdays this week Grace given by Andrew M. Members received an email thanking the Club for their messages and flower Jean was also mentioned and best wishes sent as she continues to struggle with her health issues. Sue met with Marian and she is doing well but nor yet up to early mornings. Social • Spring Quiz tickets now available from David M. Fundraising • Banners will be £60 for the two, design being finalise • Club clothing choices to David asap. • Car Parking 8/2 fairly well covered. Godfrey has dates for the next 6 months and the Club has good days and dates. Godfrey will circulate dates for members to put in heir calendars. The Club requested email/ message to be sent out on the eve of each car parking session to remind people. • Sue met with Sam, Community link at Tesco to discuss various proposals for collections. Sam will register the Club as a charity to ensure future events. No dates confirmed as ye Social • Attention brought to Friends of Whitstable Healthcare dinner email circulated this week. • Kathy wants to organise a table for the 22/02 Whitstable Healthcare Quiz, asked for a page in the events folder. • Whitstable Rotary dinner next Tuesday includes a talk on Modern Slavery, £22 for 2 courses at the Crescent Turner. Inform Kevin Fielding if interested. • There will be a couple of pages in the events folder seeking interest in an Escape room event or an in-house quiz and meal. Sign up if interested. International • Walk for Water - 6 schools confirmed. Andrew B will visit Swalecli • The flier for the TWAM collection in April has been circulated. Andrew has requeste that members hold onto tools they have until the collection day. Membership • Pete has reviewed the associate membership proposal and Sue has the Zoom training in her diary. Whitstable Yarn Bombers Members of WYBs attended to provide the Club with a crocheted and knitted Club wheel to celebrate the 20th anniversary. Thanks were given. Mel said she would find a place t display it in the pub. Greetings from other Clubs • David K will be taking greetings from our Club to his old club in Bristol when he visits before his travels to Qatar. • Kathy attended a Burns night supper at Faversham Rotary Club. Suggested as an idea for a social event next year in our Club. Raf • Dave C won the raffle, again, but was embarrassed so drew another ticket and Andr B won soap. Master at Arms • Confusion, brain fog, phones, bells and pigs were all subjects of fines. Today i Clashing clothing day, in 1983 the A-Team premiered on TV screens and the designer of a flying disc sold his invention which became internationally known as the Frisbe Final toast was given by Pat.
