Thursday 20 March 2025 Curry free Breakfast Meeting Apologies- Andrew B, Gerry, Hilary, Ian, Jean, Marian, Trevor Guests- Anne Wells, Brian Dunne, DG Grace given by Paul. Fundraising- Walk for Water, 9am prompt - allocated parking David M will direct. Lunch booked, pub requesting cash only please. Lesley has a list of your lunch choices and those having fish and chips have the meal deal!- Quiz night- 12/4 - 14 tickets remaining, Bottle prizes requested. Members organising a number of store and goodie vouchers/items.- Banners shown to club, look pleasing.- Car parking, shifts covered for 29/3 but reserves welcome. Really need 4 people on shifts.- Golf day, all in hand - will need raffle prizes. Social- Successful and fun bowling evening, great meal at the Hampton. David M won by a whisker � �. He has offered to bring the trophy in so members can see what it actually looks like!- Social quiz 3/6, £6, £5 for buffet and £1 toward the winners pot.- Bat and Trap, we’re to start practising in May. International - TWAM 26/4, leaflets available, please circulate, Andrew asked that people deliver tools on the day rather than give to him.- African Oyster Trust - agreed by club to submit a District Grant application for a donation to support purchase of medication. 1 - Shelterbox 25th anniversary- looking at ways to celebrate. Comm Voc- Waterloo Centre - awaiting response on a few queries related to donation. Reggie suggested Sue the manager of the Centre come to a breakfast meeting to tell us about their work.- Haven, Sue will ask for someone to come to a breakfast meeting to tell us about their work. If members could bring in items to support Haven we can give the speaker a boxful to take back.- Pilgrims Hospices and Harbour day, Kathy is seeking more information on any support or participation the club can provide.- Canterbury Festival day, Sue will discuss at Cluster meeting. Youth- Maggie will be working with Gerry linking with Canterbury Rotary to identify contestants for the cooking competition. Membership- Anne Wells membership application is progressing. Brian Dunne, DG- A number of areas covered including: Apprentice project with schools, Service above self award, North Star, Air Ambulance response vehicle. AOB Andrew M has just celebrated 40 years in Rotary at a number of clubs here in Whitstable and in Thame. Raffle won by Lesley, a Soduko board game. Master at Arms Nick is back! Members were fined for various misdemeanours including double yolkers , badge less people, noisy phones and rupees . Today is world sparrow day, in 1800 Alessandro Voltar invented the electric battery. Final toast given by Sue. Next meeting 27/3/25 7.30 for 8am at the Plough
