Thursday 27 March 2025 Breakfast meeting Apologies- David K, Gerry, Hilary, Jean, Maureen, Marian, Pete, Trevor. Grace given by Paul. Sue had a late night last night as she took part in a swimsuit clad event with Kent Fire and Rescue! Fundraising- Car parking 29/03 all covered, weather looks good. Need to remind Brian about the orchestra’s donation. If you are unable to cover your shift please inform Paul or Godfrey.- Quiz 12/4 - need a few more raffle prizes. - David M has received another donation for the South Africa Rotary project. We have also received another donation from Ronan. Com Voc- Haven project - Jackie Carter will be coming next week to tell us more about the work the project does. With a donation from the club charity fund Fiona will put together a hamper to give to Jackie at the meeting. Members are asked to add to this from the list to be circulated later.- Sue will be arranging speakers for breakfast meetings, Waterloo centre, EK Carers. Also organising the PHF award. Dave C suggested a talk from the head of Border Force locally. International - Walk for Water was very successful last Friday. The weather was good and the course nice and dry. We were joined by LadyJuliet from region, she has sent her thank you for an impressive event. A pleasant meal was had afterwards.- TWAM - 26/4 - Andrew and Godfrey collected two donations this week to add to the knitting machines in Andrew and Jean’s garage. 1 AOB- Sue and David M attended the Chestfield Parish Council meeting this week, St John’s church were there and spoke about their toy and school uniform collections. Suggested we could arrange late November/early December to have a collection point in Chestfield to add to this. Will investigate using the WI hall.- The Canterbury show has been cancelled this year due to funding issues.- Gerry and Ronan will hopefully be back soon, joining us on 17/4. Greeting from other clubs- Dave brought greetings from Ramsgate and Sandwich clubs where M@A fines are £1 and they fine members if they’re not wearing a tie. Not sure if this includes women! Raffle won by Lesley, who won last week so passed. Maggie then won but swapped Baileys for chocolates. Master at Arms- Fines for spelling of Volta, holes in socks and shirts, shorts and coffee spills.- Today is World theatre day- It is also Quirky country music song day, titles include:- I still miss you baby, Billy Boil- You’re the reason our kids are so ugly - Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty- Tequila makes her clothes fall off - Joe Nichols- Flushed from the bathroom of her heart - Johnny Cash- How can I miss you if you won’t go away - Dan Hicks and the Hot Lips.
