Presentation of Paul Harris Fellowship.

Unbeknown to John Edwards, he had been invited to the meeting to be presented with a PHF for his work with TWAM over the years.

Sue gave a brief resume of John’s voluntary work as follows:

He has worked as a treasurer for Cancer Research and as the local collector for TWAM for the past 15 years. This role takes up considerable time as each collection has to be assessed, items repaired – unsuitable donations sorted and passed on to other charities as appropriate or recycled.

Sue went on to explain about the award and about Paul Harris.

She explained that anyone can be recognised in this way to honour their commitment to the community, at home and abroad and it acknowledges exceptional service.

Andrew and Jean Martin were very sorry to miss the presentation but sent their heartfelt congratulations to John.

John was left speechless (briefly) on receipt of the award and thanked the Club for the honour and for the long-established relationship he had had with the Club.

Godfrey stood in for Nick.

He fined for phones ringing, colourful shirts and ended with a jokey story about a ‘ditsy blond’
