As 19th November draws closer, our plans for what is going to be a sumptuous black tie dinner to celebrate our Town's Patron Saint's Day in the fabulous setting of the Cathedral are now complete: your menu choices and drinks orders are with the Caterers, and our celebrated speaker, Mark Murphy MBE is looking forward to entertaining you on his topic 'It shouldn't happen to a radio presenter!'
With less than 3 weeks to go, we thought we would give you details of the evening which, besides being an opportunity for celebration and networking, will enable us to support the headline charities and good causes we have chosen to benefit from the event: My WiSH (the West Suffolk Hospital Charity); Gatehouse; Cancer Care Suffolk and the St. Edmund's Abbey Reborn Appeal.
As you arrive at 6.30 our team will take your coats, and you will then be set to join the Drinks Reception in the Cloisters. The drinks you have pre-ordered will be at your tables, and there will be a well-stocked bar situated in the Cathedral and open throughout the evening. Dinner will be served in the Cathedral. Table Plans and Stewards will be on hand to help guide you to your tables. Toilets, which are to be found at the end of the Cloisters. will be well marked.
Throughout the evening musical entertainment will be provided by Birgitta Kenyon. We will all play the hilarious “Stand Up Bingo” and, thanks to the generosity of our community, there will be an extensive Raffle with some extremely valuable prizes, so please bring either some cash or have a bank card to hand!
Besides the Super Raffle (we really have had some brilliant donations), the Auction will be conducted by Bury's acclaimed Auctioneer, Ed Crichton from Lacy Scott & Knight - and we can promise some valuable and unique Lots will be on offer. We will send details of both the Auction Lots and Raffle Prizes a week or so before the event.
In summary, the timings for the evening are:
18.30 Arrival at the Cathedral for Drinks Reception
19.30 Into Dinner for Introductions
20.00 Starter Service
20.30 Main Course Service
21.15 Stand Up Bingo

22.00 Mark Murphy MBE, the Speaker
