The Rotary Club of Andover are pleased to announce it has funded the purchase of two mobile hoists for Icknield School. The hoists were also funded by a matching Rotary District Grant.
Icknield School caters for children with severe and profound learning difficulties. The School helps the students to learn new skills as they grow older. They can help to cook meals in the large kitchen and learn new IT skills in the computer room, as well as continue their usual studies.
There are fixed ceiling hoists at the School for lifting children in and out of their wheelchairs and beds but having two mobile hoists is an enormous benefit to the staff at the School. The staff are now able to move the children from room to room, the hoists reduce the risks of strain and injury to the staff, they are safer for the staff and children and they can be used for lifting children from/to chair, bed, armchairs and wheelchairs.
Andover Rotary Club has been involved with Icknield School and its FE Centre for many years and we will continue to be involved with the School.
