Thame Rotarians, their partners and friends attended a “East Meets West” 5-course lunch aiming to raise funds for the building of a new hall at the Brikama Upper School in the Gambia. The project has been successfully run by the Lord William’s School in Thame for the last year or so.
The lunch which took place on Monday May Bank Holiday aimed to bring together a selection of delicious Asian and European dishes skilfully prepared by Jinee Nathoo and Richard Andrews. The guests enjoyed a variety of starters – Brochettes with aubergine and with shrimps, Split Yellow Dahl, Jerusalem artichoke with cauliflower parmesan panecotte, Salmon with Pineapple and Prawn Sauce, Aromatic Lamb Fagots with Celeriac Lasagne and Vegetables, Stir Fried Vegetables with Cajun Sauce. The sweets were equally delicious – there was a choice between Goolad Janum, Bakewell Tart and Profiterole Rolls.
The lunch managed to raise £400 which will go towards the fundraising for the Gambian project.
