I am very happy to be taking over as chair of the Youth Committee this year and hope that I will be up to the great job done by Diane Parry and Sarah Curtis. Thank you both for all your hard work.
Last year was something of a write-off due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, but we are hoping that planned events will be able to go ahead this year. We managed to have a face to face meeting in Sarah's lovely sitting room to formulate our plans. We are very excited to be able to rebook some of our successful annual events and launch some new ones.
Sadly our annual Crealy Kids Day Out has been cancelled again due to the Pandemic but we are hopeful for June 2022.
We are optimistic about the children's Christmas party and have already started making bookings.
We have established a good relationship with our local schools, and we will be discussing RYLA and some of the competitions we offer with them when the new school year starts in September.
We will also be discussing the possibility of starting an Interact club at the Academy which could be available to all Portland children.
Another new project will be working with the Portland Drop In Centre. We have made contact and hope to attend some of their meetings to determine where we can be involved.
We are all looking forward to life getting back to something like normal this year and hope to make a difference to the lives of some of the young people on Portland who have had a very stressful time over the past year.
