Pointless Social - at the College

Thu, Apr 30th 2015 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

On Thursday it was a pleasure to welcome as a guest Tarnia, for the first time, and hopefully we will see her again.

Peter said grace and the meal was, I thought, pretty good (after a couple of so/so weeks).

On behalf of the international Committee, Gordon proposed that the club make a donation of £1000 to Rotary GB&I's Nepal appeal following the earthquake disaster. All present unanimously supported that proposal. This will come from available international and unallocated funds. I reported that during the week I had been trying, unsuccessfully, to work with other club Presidents to mount a street collection this weekend for Nepal. I think we have failed but I have discovered that there is to be a street collection on Saturday by the Nepalese Society so the good people of Chelmsford will get an opportunity to assist.

Bill put round a sign up sheet inviting people to attend another local club in the week beginning 24 May as we have designated that week as a 'scatter' week - hopefully those attending other clubs can take the opportunity to push MOTOE. If you didn't sign up please contact Bill and he will try to get a few groups together.

After the comfort beak, David led us through a game of 'Pointless' which proved to be good fun. I had thought of trying to incorporate this in a quiz but had been unsure that it would work. However David proved that it could work and well done to him. Not entirely sure that 'Arsenal' coming up as a subject in the final round was 'random' - but the prize was welcome!

Pearl won the raffle and Bill extracted fines from many of us.

Next week is fairly busy. On Tue we have a boules game, on Wednesday some of us are at a Rotoract quiz, and of course Sat is w4w.
