Emmajane Williamson on Cognitive behavioural therapy - at the College

Thu, May 14th 2015 at 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

On Tuesday Bill and a team defeated a Colchester club at Frisbee Golf, so we now have 2 teams into the next round of the Hugh Markham trophy.

Wednesday evening was a meeting of the Chelmsford joint Presidents; by tradition, at this stage of the year, next years Presidents begin to attend to aid continuity - that brought home to me how little of 'my' year I have left (and reminded that I really ought to prepare for the AGM this coming Thursday). Nothing earthshattering from the Presidents meeting but I do think that, this year, we have forged closer ties between the clubs (with 1 exception) and I hope that will continue because It seems preferable for the clubs to collaborate wherever possible. I am optimistic that we will get at least some support from the other clubs for MOTOE.

Our Thursday meeting at college was, I thought, a good evening. As well as our guest speaker we were pleased to welcome as guests, Clare, and Michelle's sister Barbara. Janette said grace and later on extracted fines from various people. I was able to report that, at the District Assembly last Saturday we were presented with a District Governor Citation - having satisfied enough of the criteria set by Stan. Well done to all. Our guest speaker was EmmaJane, who is a practitioner in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
She gave us an interesting, and participative, talk explaining very clearly what this complex subject is about. We can usually gauge the performance of our guest speakers by the range of questions and I certainly had to cut that short due to time constraints so I think she was pretty well appreciated. Jan C gave vote of thanks on behalf of us all.

Richard took home the raffle prize.

Last evening, Phoenix were involved in 3 teams at the Rivermead quiz; although none of us made the winners podium, a good evening, in a packed hall. They didn't announce how much the evening as a whole had made but did say how much the raffle raised. I noted enviously that it was not far short of the total profit from our last quiz!
