There was a full turn-out of members at last week's meeting of the Rotary Club. President Sandy Bannerman also welcomed two Teri visitors from North Berwick Rotary Club, Ex-Cornet Bruce Wilson and his brother Kenneth, sons of Past President of the Hawick Club the late Doddie Wilson. The speaker was Geraldine Bouglas, Selkirk, a stalwart member of the Borders' Exploration Group. She first became involved when her eldest son was a member of an expedition and became more involved as the year's progressed through helper, secretary and group leader and has taken part in several expeditions which gave her hands-on experience of the group's aims and achievements which helps develop and broaden the minds of the youngsters involved. She described a visit to Malawi which was of great interest to visitor Kenneth Wilson as he had spent many years of his working life there. Many questions evolved after which Ron Sutherland gave the vote of thanks. The Club decided to donate the proceeds of the forthcoming coffee morning to the Nepal Earthquake Appeal through Rotary channels.
