Tommy Mulvee: Emma Jolly - Drawing & Painting

Thu, Jul 2nd 2015 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Weekly meeting with guest speaker

Newly installed President Mairhi Trickett welcomed members to Thursday's meeting to hear a most interesting talk from local artist Emma Jolly. Emma was trained at Duncan of Jordanstone College, Dundee, after schooling at Hawick High School. From her early years she had always loved art and her ability in that field soon became apparent when she was awarded the Peacock Visual Arts Award for the Moving Image at the Royal Scottish Academy in March 2014. Emma works in many media such as pen, pencil, charcoal, oils and photography, and specialises in portraits of pets,  animals and people. She has many commissions to work on and she showed the members a selection of her extremely lifelike portraits of animals. Emma has four exhibits in the local Art Club Exhibition (which opened to the public last Sunday in the Scott Gallery). She was asked a number of searching questions by the members,  who were all so impressed with the quality of her work, and a vote of thanks was warmly given by Past President Tommy Mulvee.
